Hello all. I have a 1987 vette with wheels and tires that are showing their age. I want to replace both, but I'd like to avoid the factory wheels. Are there any direct bolt on wheels out there? I know my options are pretty limited with this year. I'd rather not use spacers, but I can if necessary. I've seen a couple 87s with the chrome C6 wheels and really like the look. There used to be a couple places that carried these, but have since stopped carrying them. Any ideas? Thanks.
Darn, your right. Bought my 17"replicas at Lakeshore Wheel and Tire, and when I bring up the website, it's changed. They had all the different Corvette wheels in the 38mm offset for the 87s.
Yeah, that's where I was looking also. Bummer. Was looking on CorvetteGuys.com, but can't tell if I"m going to have spacing issues with their wheels either.
Yeah, I don't have an unlimited budget. Those are pretty expensive. I think the direct fit ones are the ticket. Did you put the 17x8.5s or 17x9.5s on? I'm assuming you did the same on all 4? What size of tire did you put on them? I'm leaning towards the Nittos.
255/40/17 Sumitomo HTRZ II Fronts on 17 x 8.5 Fikse FM5 wheels
295/35/18 Nitto 555R Drag Radials on 18 x 9.5 Fikse FM5 rear wheels
I Got a nice deal, they came from a C5,I bought the tires later
and the Nitto555R's are real good !
I see there are some available in the 18x9.5 size. They'd be no problem on the back, but I'd think they would be too big for the front, correct. Also, should I stay with 17s to keep my speedometer accurate?
Try AFS Wheels. They are located in California. Bought silver 17X9.5" ZR1 replicas for my 85 with the correct 38mm offset. Delivered to my house, tires and wheels mounted and balanced for $749.00!
