I have a 1990 vette Stock and in real nice shape so... The stereo sucks..can anyone suggest a replacement deck that has orange display and looks like it belongs in the car?
Also any speaker suggestion? has Bose system but don't want to modify so no amps

 

I've got two boston 6x9s in the back of my car. They are the only two speakers that work in the car. They put out plenty of sound for me, and I'm 18. Pioneer makes some really good speakers that aren't too expensive. I'd recommend getting two Pioneer 6x9s and a good reciever that you can plug a flash drive or your ipod into.

 

I used a sony single din & mount with a storage bin from Crutchfield in my 90. The Sony has CD & MP3, lights up with a redish tint. This radio has a fuse in the rear of it, if it blows the radio will need to be removed to replace the fuse. Since removing the radio is a major PITA the fuse was removed, jumper leads were used & a ATO fuse holder was wired for the fuse to live in the glove box. Other than the chrome multi function **** the radio blends well with the dash.

Speakers used were cheap Wally world 3 way, 5 1/2 front, 6x9 rear mounted to the stock but modded Bose speaker mounts & rewired with quality speaker wire. The voids in the front mounts were packed with house hold fiberglass insulation. IMHO the system sounds good + I do not need anything that will blow the windows out.

When installing an aftermarket radio: Be sure to follow the guide lines in the GM TSB about installing resistors in the stock radio harness to avoid problems with the ATC if your vehicle has that feature. Failure to install the resistors will result in an inoperative ATC head unit which = no AC.

Note: My 90 has purple/yellow wires instead of the purple/white wires as listed in the TSB. The gray/black wire listed in the TSB is the same.
