Need Help Determining Value
I need some advice, folks.
I'm looking to sell my ride and upgrade to a newer model year. Without getting too deep, I currently own an 89 coupe, 6-speed, sport seats and FX-3, non-Bose. The car is 100% stock and has new fuel pump, injectors, tires w/ less than 500 miles, alternator and AC rebuild (134a conversion). It is black/saddle and has 57,xxx mikes on the clock. Nice car. Everything works (even FX3). Only bad spot is drivers seat bolster. From 10 feet away, the whole car looks immaculate. Paint is deep and shiny and has only the small chips/scratches you would expect from a 22 year old paint job.
I have no idea of value. I was recently offered a low-ball price of $5,500, and felt a bit insulted. I have more than twice that into the car! Although I don’t expect to come out on top, I would think it should be worth somewhere in the area of $9-10k?
Am I just out of touch? Any advice/input is appreciated.
Thanks!

KBB puts a 91 at around 10K private seller. You can ask for that and see what bites. The market determines the price unless somebody just has to have it. Buyers don't care what you put in so much as what they can get it for. I think 8 would be a realistic number but lets see what others have to say. Hope it goes your way and you get more.

It is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. That being said this is a terrible time to try to sell a Vette. Your target buyers for that 89 are mostly in their twenties and their priorities are finding and keeping a job. My Vette is a toy and a hobby. In my early fifty's I paid cash for it and sometimes regret that I didn't invest the money elsewhere for my retirement.
If your Vette is paid for I would keep it and buy another. Cash of course.
This is just my opinion. Tomorrow I am looking at a house I am interested in buying. I have to finance it. I think it will be a better investment than another money pit/toy. Good luck!!!!
