I know that my problem is the polarized film has been burnt by the sun. I know that looking at the dash without polarized sunglasses only shows yellow squares, with glasses on, perfect. I have found the film (@$15) with and without adhesive. My question, can I apply the film to the dash from the outside, without removing the entire dash, which, from all I have researched, can create another set of serious problems. Has anyone tried this? Doesn't it make sense to do it the easy way?
You have to take your display completely apart to fix this problem. It's not that hard to do, and if you need help, I have pictures of the entire process of repairing this.
I juts bought some film myself, tested it out and it solves the problem. I have yet to install it but am thinking I will cut it to fit the display, (only the center LCD is bad on mine, right now) remove the bezel and place it over the LCD, secured by a small amount of tape around the edges, which shouldn't be visible once the bezel is reinstalled. As this isn't a drive ability issue I doubt I will get around to the install for at least another week. Hope this helps some, it sure beats paying $100 for each LCD.
Oh, thank you so much. I didn't think of just removing the bezel to get it in, but I'm going to call the place that has the film and ask them if the adhesive would interfer with the films affect, if it does, I'll get the plain and try you scotch tape suggestions. And again, that you very much
I've sent an inquirty to polarization.com regarding the adhesive. Also prior success rates with or without. I went to your link, wow, can't beat that price. Did you hold the film up to the problem area and see clearly the numbers instead of the amber squares? Good luck with the install and thanks for the response. Bet

Bet: Yes, I did test it out and the amber goes away to only show what should be seen, just like wearing polarized sunglasses. Since there is so much interest on this I may move it up in my priority list and get some pictures to help some people out.
It is a problem and I searched every Corvette site for days and days, hours at a time, and went all the way back into 2005 records. It was my sunglasses that tipped me off, and you are the only person who confirms this. I am new to this, the forum, not my Vette, and I think that whatever you post would be appreciated by Vette owners. Some, however, are really going to be upset they spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, for this simple practical fix. KEEP POSTING!!! Bet
Here are a couple pictures to show that the film does in fact work. I unfortunately made the mistake of cutting the pieces sideways which does not give the desired look. Make sure you hold the film up first and know which side is the side and which the top/bottom before cutting it... Anyway, I tried just placing a piece over the screen and holding it in with the bezel, this does not work and it will move around. Taping it in a place out of sight also does not give the desired effect, at least for me. Since its not flush with the screen you will have some reflection and be able to see film, although the numbers do appear clear, that may not bother some but I'm trying to find a way around it if possible. Post up if you get some of the film and find a way to secure it. This is not the adhesive backed film, that may be on my next order.
Hi! Ordered that film from amazon, and cut it to slip under bezel, easy install, but you're right, too much reflection in the daytime, but at night it looks great. Going to check the thickness at the polorization.com site, which I think can cut the amount of relfection down. Did you ever go further in this project, or did you also get side-tracked? Any man who has ever said "women are high maintenance" has never owned a Corvette! lol

Glad to see someone else working on a low cost solution. I rarely drive the car with out polarized sunglasses on so it hasn't bothered me enough to tear things apart yet. This winter I should have some time, i'm sure others will have a solution or better ideas by then as well.
I used the film from polarization.com and it worked great. You really need to take the cluster out and apart. Scrap the old film off clean it and apply the new film. Be sure to turn the film 90 degrees to make sure you have it right. I found this out the hard way. This is a pretty easy job but takes a little time. Do yourself a favor an recover all 3 so you won't have to disassemble again. Good luck
