Hey guys so I really have no idea about corvettes, other than that I know I like them a lot!
So my first car is in a bad place right now... it may be not worth my money to fix (I'm going to get it checked out next week). Its a 98 Neon, and it has some electrical problems (the dash lights as well as the spedometer and odometer dont work).
Anyway, so I am currently looking at new cars if my old one isn't fixable. So naturally I go to craigslist. I am not even sure of my budget yet, but I'm sure I could sell my old car for parts for $1000, and I've got some money saved.
I found this beautiful 84 vette... 86k+ miles, and it just needs a muffler and AC all for $4k or less... good deal or not? Will I end up paying a bunch more? Will it be reliable?
If price is an issue and you can live with all of the characteristics of an 84 AFTER YOU RESEARCH THEM and the car is good on all mechanical levels then it may be a good deal for you.
If you have more money, I suggest something newer and something that might even have mods already done to it if that is your thing. I have seen a major C4 for sale here in the 7K range.
You can't build a great motor for 7K hardly let alone everything else on the car.
If you have time and or more money just take your time and look around you'll find all kinds of these things for sale for just a little more than that car. In these times like I said you can literally get twice the car for less than twice that price.
If you can do mechanical and electrical work yourself then this might make a good second vehicle ... but if not .... this one may turn out to be a money pit.
Well when the engine is reffered to as the 'crapfire' ... I have had 3 c4's (86, 87, 89) I love the tpi engine, my first two were auto and were fun but I've got to say this 6 speed is where its at. (I didn't want the 4+3) I got my current 89 and I had to replace clutch and flywheel but everything is awesome. 4500 bucks. Watch the forums stuff pops up all the time. 6 k will buy a really nice visually and performance wise. Don't get that pos.
