Beautiful work, Cadwiz! Can you use your original serp belt with it or did you have to move to a different size?

EXCELLENT POINT!

FWIW: Most, if not all, TPIS AIR delete kit owners had to convert to a shorter belt. (Mine had to be shorter.) Could be true for other "bar" kits as shown in Zip's link.

Make sure the stock belt will fit -- savings buyers an extra $30-$40 for a new belt -- and you could have a direct price advantage right there!

Thanks. I don't know, as I haven't put it on yet.

Once I get it installed, I'll take some more pics and have some more info.

Yeah, but what would I do with it?

Also:
To the guy that sent me the email, I'm interested in the pics but accidentally deleted your email.

These photos show the pulley location if it was moved to the bolt with the long spacer on your bracket. It puts the pulley in a more inconspicuous place. Probably be an easy design mod for a guy with your talent. You'll be needing a shorter belt anyway if you go with the smaller pulley, another nice touch. It's just a suggestion, your bracket is a beautiful thing the way it is.

No, just the email. I thought it was a PM notification from the forum. Then when I get on the forum, no PM.

I really like the look of that. I was originally concerned with the idler pulley clearing the PS pulley, but it looks to be fine. Also, wasn't positive how close the top arc was going to get to the alternator body. It was a little difficult to get really good measurements off the front of the engine while it was in the car. As we all know, there isn't much room.

Thanks, with the 2 3/8" O.D. idler pulley, there is 5/8" clearance to the P.S. pulley.
To get the top arc at the alternator, I made a cardboard template.
When the alternator died, I went with one that was "clocked" different, (same as the one on my "91 Caprice) allowing the use of a shorter, straight, arm. I had to get another, shorter belt but it was worth it to me.
Your design looks great
Mine just kind of evolved into what it is.

You have a very impressive engine compartment. Although yours is technically a 2-bar system, I like it.

If it helps for people to see how the "classic" delete kits are configured, here is a pic of the TPIS kit installed. (special order w/o anodizing and then polished)

Notice how much higher and closer to the top radiator hose the pulley sits. This may help convince those looking for a lower/cleaner setup.

It might also provide ideas for the OP. Maybe????

Post is a few months old, any update on making these to sell? I've been searching all over and your bracket is by far the best I've seen. Thanks, Winston

Thanks for the compliment.

I was actually dinkin' around with it last night. I've been a little busy at work lately, so haven't had time for fun stuff. The first bracket didn't fit exactly right, so the profile had to be re-designed. Also going to try to fit OEM belt length. I should have a new one cut in a few days and see how it works. I'll get some pics put up of the before-during-after install. After that, maybe I'll see about making some more available.

You do good work, I would be proud to have one on my engine. I also like the bowtie idea but if GM gets wind of it you would have to charge WAY more to overcome their fees. Lastly, I would not worry too much about using the stock belt, I made my own and mounted it lower on the engine for a cleaner look. I would concentrate on mounting it as low as possible for a better look. JMO.

Update:

The original one I made didn't fit exactly "right", so I made another one.

And had it anodized.

It isn't quite as shiny as the powder-coat, but it seems to be more durable.

So now I have a slight problem. I sold the '89 and got this:

Now I don't have anything to put this delete bracket on, so I'm going to sell it. Since there were so many of you that replied to this thread with kind words and constructive suggestions, I will give you guys first crack.

I wasn't able to make "100% sure" that it would fit exactly right and that everything would line up. So' I will let it go for $100. I will ship it for free to anyone with a U.S. address. This will include everything in the pic, the pulley, and the bolts that I was going to use to mount it. They aren't anything special, just grade 8 hex head bolts.

Also, If you get it and it doesn't fit, send it back as undamaged as possible and I will refund your money.

P.M. if interested and I will get you my paypal address. I'll give it a week here (if it doesn't get moved before that) and then it will go to the for sale section.
