They are cheap to make, my friend made me one many years ago from polished stainless.
$66 Australian dollars complete. That is for stainless, couldve done it for about $15 in mild steel. Back when this was done, the Australian dollar bought about $0.46c US
Forgot to put how i liked it. On my 87, it wasnt such an issue with flex, but it still made a HUGE difference, and was SUBSTANTIALLY better than the actual roof panel.
On my 94, it was rubish with the top off, with this in, it was the best handling car ive ever driven, bar none.
I have one on my vette. Great product. I looks and performs great.
I purchased mine 3 months ago, Dave & tom are great guys. I called them, they told me how it works and it works like a champ.
When I go to car shows, everyone looks at the AFSB Bar.
These guys have a product that looks great and it works.
As for the price, $450.00 is cheap when you consider the cost of all the fasteners. To powder coat a bar like this would cost me $100.00 to $150.00 alone.
If your thinking about purchasing one of these bars, you better do so soon.
I do like the looks of the AFSB bar better, but I've been very happy with my targa truss from R-D racing and couldn't beat the price got it locally for $240 in great condition. Can definitely tell the difference in the rigidity of the car with and without installed. I can say I do like the fact that the R-D truss has the center bars closer to the center than the AFSB bar since I've heard taller members commenting on hitting their head on the center bars of the AFSB.
