Last night I started my '85 up and noticed that there was a small light under my rear bumper illuminating the area beneath the gas tank. The lighting is asymmetrical, favoring the left side (as viewed from the rear). I got on my hands and knees to inspect the light further, hoping to find a second light that was just burnt out, but I was disappointed to find no such light. There is a single light bolted to a bracket. This light turned off when I turned off my interior lights. I can't figure out what this light is for, and I'm not really digging the asymmetry (a lot of people don't!).

Try changing the spare in the dark and you'll understand the courtesy light was designed from a guilt reflex for the hassle! Throw in a cold wind and rain. They should have tossed in an inflatable mechanic like the auto-pilot in "Airplane"....
Thanks for the picture. I am trying to fix the back end of my '93 and was looking to see just where the spare light should be. I just read that the '93 did not have a spare light. Is this correct?
