The Z06 FRC C5 is the best looking version of an otherwise understated vette design.
- isn't that statement like the 8th law of physics or something?
i had a 2004, black over mod red Z06 -
all i can say - "it was a hell of a ride." i'd love to have another. i've had the c3, c4, c5, and a c6 - for some reason, i keep coming back to the c4. i love the styling of the c4, and presently have a 96 coupe as my daily driver. my favorite though is the 1990 model, followed by the 85. love the early c4 styling - round tail lights and black belt trim. i'm in my early 60's, bad knees, aches and pains all over the place, but still can get in and out of my c4 okay, but at some point, i'm most likely have to move back into a c5/c6.
The one I HOPE to buy tomorrow is triple black with the medium gray wheels. Like your chrome a lot better, but in the used market, buy the best car. Wheels can always be changed/swapped.

i bought the "chromes" on a whim - not really a big fan of bling. the wheels are really not "metal" chrome, but chrome powder coat. they were great - very little maintenance - just a coat of wax once a year or so. sorry if i'm getting OT...

Hey, I'm a newbie and a thirsty sponge. I appreciate all info!! I didn't think all the wheels I've seen that look like chrome really are. Aren't some wheels polished aluminum as well? They can be a nightmare too.
My reason is different than most here. I bought my first Vette, a 63 vert in 67. Over the years I have had 7 different Vettes and each was different in it's own way. But the thing I like about the C4 is that it 'feels' like the 63 when you drive. There is just something about feeling like you are connected to the road that makes the drive 'fun'.
The car I have now is an 88 Blue/Blue. I like that color combo so it is an ideal car for me.

You put on a C4
You sit in a C5/6
C4 has a cute butt
C5 has a big butt
C6 is somewhere in between (my opinion only)
Now if I had the coin a C6z06 would be my track car.
Alas I do not have that kind of cash laying around so my C4 nickles ($100+) and dimes ($1000) me as it becomes an adequate track car.
I had a C3 in my early twenties, a friend of mine had an 85 with the 4+3, I swear 250 horses never felt so fast. That always stayed with me. When i was able to get another Corvette recently, I wanted a C4. They had everything I wanted in a sports car, great great exterior and great interior styling, super performance, relative ease of maintenance good gas mileage and a price point u cant beat. If u look long enough( it took me a year of searching) u can find some great deals. And I finally own my first convertable. Just a perfect "tween" from C3 to C5 and C6
My friend just got a C3 project yesterday. Look up 'birdcage rust' and you'll run from C3s very quickly.
You shouldnt talk about cars you have no clue about.
Your post was well-reasoned up to that point.
Viewing one example of a project with rust should not make anyone "run quickly" from an entire series. I can give you such examples of C4s, too. Should I?
I got my 94 last May with 64,700 miles on it (very clean well taken care of car 14K), received many compliments on how new it looks, it was/still is a garage queen. I purchased it at a used Corvette dealership in NJ, I tested C4, C5, C6.
The winner was the C4 because --- I like the seating position - like I'm sitting on the ground, legs stretched out. My wife and I have no problems getting in/out of the car - we are in our 50's. The ride is great - sport car feel, power --- has 300 HP and more than enough for me. I just had a better feel for the C4 like ---- this is for me, no newer.

Find a C3 that's been in the Southwest since birth. It will be clean as the day it left the factory.
I hope this doesn't look like I'm trying to create angst or controversy, I am looking for my first sportscar/hotrod after 48 years of driving. (you do the math )
Because of my price point, I'm looking for a C4 or C5. I was wondering how many of you had the same decision to make, and what made you chose the C4?
I'm looking for a nice driver, NO PROJECT, comfortable and in good shape, low miles.
Thanks Gang.
I did the math your 64, and you don't want to tinker.
