Help! Monroe vs. Bilstein Shocks ?
HELP! I'm a new owner of a 87' daily driver and have no intention of racing. I just found out two of my shocks maybe licking, Mine friends, Corvette owners, have both driven the car and didn't notice the shocks were bad.
One friend said I needed to get Bilstien shocks, the other said, on his 84' he had Bilstien, then Monroe's, and he didn't notice the differice. The problem is Hawaii has no dealer carrying Bilstiens. They cost $300 a set, plus $50 shipping, Monroe's I can get thru a friend dealers price, of $22 ec.. Which way should I go, and do I have bad shocks? :confused: :confused: :confused:

don't get monroe's...
first, do what Scorp said...
second, if your saving $$$ get some KYBs. they are cheap, but not junk.
third, save your factory bilsteins and send them in for rebuild.

They should be in 1 of 2 places. On the bottom of your center console, or the bottom of your driver's side passenger bin cover.
Those will tell us what shocks your car came with stock. Then a more sensible decision can be made. :)

Where do I find this codes? If I find them , then what? I don't have a owners manuel.

Does your car have either of the following RPO codes : Z52 or FG3. :)
