4+3 Stuck in reverse

Hello, new to this forum and new to corvette ownership... Here's my problem, hope someone can help. I took the shift **** off my 4+3 to replace the boot, then accedently shifted into reverse and now no matter what I do I can't get it out of the reverse gear??? I'm worried, any help???

Is the lockout cable to the Ign switch free to move?
(Requires you to put trans in reverse before key can be removed )
If not disconnect cable at shifter end and try to move shifter

Thanks rodj, that did the trick. I just removed the clip and cable (shaft) and no problems... do you think it's ok to just leave it off? I'm not worried about having to be in gear to remove the key, I don't think it worked anyway...

Not that I thought it would happen but I zip tied the cable in the unlocked position to prevent something unexpected happening
