Is it true that there are bulbs that can be replaced? Having time left (probably at least 10) I was wondering if any of you have taken the dash board apart and put in new bulbs.
For 1,000 $ or such I think I can take my time and many labeled plastic cups for screws to take the thing apart.
Should I give up and just send it in to .... I forget...some catalogue people...same ones that say send your seats in
Hi Sir: Could you send directions? I can dimly see oil pressure and I do not really feel it's pressing but I would like to return this "old girl" as much as possible to her original glory.
Wrap masking tape around the bulbs and use the needle nose pliers on the tape overlap and pull STRAIGHT out. Do not rotate the bulbs because they plug into a twist lock socket that is behind the circuit board and if you rotate those sockets, they fall down and you then must remove the whole cluster and take it apart to reinstall the sockets. Use some tubing to hold the new lamps to insert them into their sockets and use a screwdriver through the tubing to hold the bulbs in their socket while you remove the tubing.

I used tape covered surgical hemostats to reach in and grab the bulbs. If you can find a set of these they are extremely useful for reaching into tight spots, soldering wires and as a heat sink and holding the occasional roach........not really!!! Maybe 30 years ago.
Oh yeah, do not handle the bulbs with your fingers. The oil in your fingers will lessen the life span of the bulbs.
