Bluetooth / MP3 options
Well, I'm just in the process of negotiating to buy a '96 LT4 roadster. Probably, this car will serve the purpose of a weekend toy and occasional road-trip missile. With the following noteworthy exceptions, I intend to keep the car fundamentally OEM. What I'd like to do is find the best option to integrate bluetooth and MP3 capability. I want to be able to conduct phone discussions through my car's speaker system (yes I realize that I'll need a thoughtfully placed microphone). And I'd like to be able to enjoy audio books, which today come in the far more efficient MP3 format as opposed to six or eight or twelve standard CD's.
What I want to avoid is yanking out my OEM stereo and throwing in an aftermarket unit that does NOT fit the space allocated for the original equipment. Perhaps I am harsh, but I think such modifications usually look crappy at best. If, perhaps, someone knew of an aftermarket stereo (with bluetooth & MP3 capability) that exactly fit the space originally occupied by the OEM Bose unit, that would be ideal! For my part, I've not been able to find such a beast, at least so far. Alternatively, I suppose one approach might be to, as unobtrusively as possible, integrate a USB port into the central console. Perhaps this would give me the means to take phone calls through the car's speakers, using my iPhone as a conduit..? I don't know. That's why I'm asking.
I comprehend that the questions I'm raising may have been covered elsewhere at some point in time. However, I thought perhaps someone knowledgable in the community might be kind enough to offer a suggestion or two, just to point me in a productive direction. And I will certainly be grateful for whatever input you nice folks may be kind enough to offer.

Sounds very cool, thank you.

Are you happy with yours? You don't happen to have a photo for how it looks in your car do you? I think this one would work perfectly for me. Thanks so much for getting back to me on this.
Kind regards,

And it looks like it belongs in the dash.
