I do not know about fibberglass but fiberglass and SMC can be repaired. They do require different resins, though. I do not know what fibberglass requires. Soap in its mouth????
Fibberglas aside, SMC is made with glass fibers. Its just not hand layed or shot fiberglass like on older generations. The glass fibers are mixed into a polyester resin and molded and compressed into the desired shape.
Most fiberglass repair kits are compatible with SMC but check the label to make sure.
Definitely wear disposable gloves when doing any repair with glass fiber mat or you will be shaving your fingers. Ahhh to be young, dumb, and not be bothered with reading the instructions!
2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (appearance mods)
C4 of Year Winner (appearance mods) 2019
I didn't see anyone clarify....According to the Corvette specialty shops in my area, the barometer for repairability of hood damage is whether it extends into the wheel wheel....basically the arc of the wheel well.
If any crack does get into the wheel arc, my local shops said to replace the hood...that the crack would eventually come back. This was from not one, but two fiberglass repair shops -- that wouldn't warranty any repair extending into the wheel well.
