Yes, it can be fixed.

But, in the long run, the adjuster would probably opt for a new hood.

Less work painting and replacing a new hood then it is to remove and fix that one.

Besides, there may be other 'hidden' damage as well.

Plus, it looks like a critical strength area. The cutout for the light means the perimeter has to assume the strength, support role.

Because the light structure is also hit, that will get replaced too.

When, it comes to repair vs replace, they usually opt for replacement to avoid repeating the repair.

They will, ultimately, weigh the number of hours necessary to repair the part. If it's a $1000 more to replace it, a decent case can be made to take that route.

If they repair it, know the repair should be guaranteed...usually for the life of the vehicle. (Ask your adjuster.) As long as the work is guaranteed, it doesn't matter how they handle it.

It needs to be replaced. If it was me, I'd try for a nice used one. They can be bought relatively cheap. May even find one the correct color.

I want a new hood but would prefer to save money and get a used one and have more money left over for the whole car paint job...this. Whole thing might just work out in my favor..imagine that..

That's when you ask for a check in the amount of the estimated repairs...especially if you can get a new hood on the list.

Then, find a used one...even if it takes awhile. Money in your pocket for paint or other repair. Or, performance mod.

Find a junk yard. The one I use in AZ has a bunch of corvettes that have been rear ended. Should be able to pick one up for a decent price. Then, you will definitely have enough money to get it re painted. Maybe Corvette Recyclers has one!

Toledo Pro has some nice aftermarket hoods. I've been trying to order one but they're out of the office until Wednesday.

Yeah. Count your lucky stars. They usually fight more than that. You should make out nicely....especially if you can find a used hood and headlight assembly already in the right color.

Yea... no way should that be fixed.

Take your $3360, find a used hood/light, and pocket the change.

Anytime i need a used part i call up contemporary corvette. Not sure how bad shipping would be, but it's a vette-only junkyard.

That sucks on the damage, but at least they paid out without much hassle.
