Thank you for replying; I should be glad if it is a bulb and not an LED. I was reading about sending your dash display into Corvette Central for repair.....that is a bit costly.
I hope someone will advise me on doing the dash removal/bulb replacement.....
I didn't even know they used any LEDs in this car.
Bulbs are easy. LEDs rarely go bad anyways. If one does, I can fix it. The worst an LED replacement can be is removal and resoldering. I do that for a living.
FWIW, the bulbs are GE 882X or GE 18167's. I thought I ordered the correct ones (2 different places) off the internet and am still looking. First (ebay)was supposedly for 86 thru 89 but were actually for the 89 - earlier are bi-pin vs. wedge base for 89. next I ordered xenon type per someone elses recommend on the forum, and the lamp is too long by 1/4". The specs are 5W, 12V, T2-1/4, bi-pin, OAL ~1.00 inch. I will try the local auto parts as others seem to have found them. Inst Panel is very easy to remove per Goldcyclon's link.
There are kits you can get that have every single interior and dash bulb in your car specific to your year set. I think the one I was looking at was at Ecklers. Not sure.
