1988 c4 going down the hiway and cut off,put it in n,start up,this time it cut off but no power cool off about 10-15 min's starts up,sometime i will not start after i park it for 10-15 min's jump it fire right up,has new battery,new ing switch,tune up,but the volts from the alternator 12-13.6 jump back and forward,some one put a 100amp alt,on it thinking about a upgrade trying to find a answer??????????????????

I'm gonna guess and say that your alternator is just barely charging enough to keep the car running and not quite charging the battery . when its running, turn all the accessories on(electrical) and see what volts you get out of the alternator. if its below spec. ,check for disconnected wires, check for the voltage at the hot wire on the alternator, if thats not within spec. replace the alternator
