installing a new convertible top
I'm looking at putting a new one on this winter but want to see how much work it is
thanks Brian
I've seen guys post here before with DVD's and literature on changing tops however.....
the top on my 47K mile 89' was showing it's age and I thought about doing the job my self also. I got a great deal on a Robbins top (VERY good brand) and then came across a upholsterer who does the job at your home. He spent 6 hours in my drive way and boy am I glad I hired him! It was a very tedious job. Not saying you can't do it, but for the price ($450) it was money well spent and it looks great!
Just my $.02
Good luck!
Not exceptionally hard to do...BUT baby the pro installed them way tighter and wrinkle free then I could ever do... His job looks 90 percent better then mine even from 20 feet...120 percent better up close and personal...

If I could have found someone local who would do the work for $500.00 + parts I would have gone that route but I was getting qoutes at 2 grand which was way too high.
Good luck
Mike

That's what I was finding too Mike, then got lucky and came across a new top on craigslist and found the installer. TOTAL cost = $750 (includes the tip I gave the guy for sweating in 90* heat for 6 hours!).
