1993 engine problem
I have a 1993 Corvette with an engine problem,
when it sits ideling it is fine, when you press the pedal it has a slight hesitation but revs fine, when you put it in drive it starts to misfire and has no power. Does anybody have any idea what the problem maybe. the leads and plugs have all been changed and hasnt made any difference.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Mark
Always a good idea to check the injectors are working, best way to check is start the car from cold run it for20 or 30 seconds turn the engine of and feel the headers for any cold ones. This is how i found out i had a bad injector connector which showed 12 volt pulses on my meter when removed from the injector.
You can also remove the spark plug leads one by one with good insulated pliers, while listening for changes in idle speed. Also check your TPS voltage
Good luck
Ohm out your injectors. A $10 multimeter at walmart will work. I don't know exactly what they are supposed to be, but make sure they are all pushing the same.
Also, check your timing. Your motor may run fine at idle, but if timing is a little bit off, your spark will come too early or too late in the piston movement and either impede (early) or lose compression at the time of detonation (late).
These are tricky cars and can be picky about timing.
