I got back from Funfest today. I had a good time and met forum member CRUZN C4 there. I attended most of the seminars and learned even more about my C4. The last two seminars speaker was Chris Petris, what a knowledgeable guy about our cars. I am looking forward to attending next years Funfest.
I was going to go but the local hotels jacked up their prices for us so I didn't attend based on principle alone.
I did take a trip to Mid America in August though. CruiznC4 is a good guy and has a really nice 90. I saw it when I joined the other Illinois guys at the Chevrolet Museum in Decatur last spring.

Been a few years since I've been to funfest, stayed in a small town about 60 miles from effingham, motel6, good rates. Right off the interstate.About 45miute drive to Mid America, corvetteronw took the picture in my avatar.

One of the gals I work with got married this week in Tennessee. They did tail of the dragon in hubby's red C5 supercharged Tigershark vert and then went to Funfest on the way back.
She promised to bring back lots of pics. I hope the weather was good.
It Was cool to meet you Dale! Your 84 is amazing! We re sorry we didn't get a chance to catch up with you on Saturday. Hope next year will be better.
Nice to have met you too. I just left on a spur of the moment thing. I got done listening to Chris Petris and decided to leave. I did check out some of the cars in the lot I was in. I am planning on going back next year. You have one nice 90 as well, liked the DRM.

You are absolutely right on CRUZN C4 car one of the nicest 90's I have seen. I stayed in a Days Inn in Charleston about half hour away. Was $60 for the night. The motels close to Funfest were just insane on their prices.

Good to know. Any other tips for a first time (next year) visitor?
Is the parking good? I worry about my car.
How about revenue enhancement, are the troopers out in force?
Thanks.

I have always done a Priceline.com search. Sometimes I ended up quite a distance away but it was worth it.
Parking is on a freshly mowed field. It can get dusty when it is dry so make sure you have a good coat of wax on her. If they are giving helicopter rides then do not park close to the landing area. Frickin thing was constantly taking off and landing and putting a great deal of dust in the air. If it rains hard then the entrances and other areas can get quite soggy.
Worth the trip though as you will see a ton of cool Vettes in the parking area, the seminars are great and M Y Garage is very nice. One year I wanted to get detailed photos of a Corvette Challenge L98 that was on a display stand behind the plastic chains. One of the workers there gave me permission to go behind the chains and get close up pics from several angles. Nice folks.

Advice on first time...I just kinda of walked around checked out the seminars and attended all or most of the ones for C4. The people they had speaking was very knowledgeable. Parking was in a big field, kinda bumpy, but very nicely mowed. I didn't see one trooper at all on the road. The ones I did see were at the entrance to the show. I am going back next year for sure.

I was going to book a hotel a few miles away, can't recall the name of the town now, but my wife didn't want to have to drive back and forth.
That's what she said. Now for the rest of the story.
She then hit me with, since we aren't going to effingham I'm going to meet my friends in Gulf Shores and spend the week, I'll be back around midnight saturday, there's food cooked in the frig for you. See ya!
So the week was spent wandering around the garage looking at my vette and eating leftovers!
