Simple fix for stone/windshield hit
Hello,
My wife and I have a nice picture perfect day in the Corvette today.
We were on a 3 lane highway, I was in the far right, two cars passed us in the center lane then I heard "BING", instantly I saw a small mark in my windshield from a passing stone.
It's small, I'm going to say the size of a pencil eraser head, maybe a tad larger, but round shape, no long, jagged hit, not deep.
Is there any simple fix out there I can do to smoothen it out, possible get the mark out of the windshield. Seeing it ---- bothers me !!
I also want to make sure it does not grow which I'm sure it will not, and also to try to eliminate the imperfection.
Thanks,
Bob

Take your car to an autoglass repair shop.
They probably can do an 'injection' and repair the chip.
Won't be perfect, but it should stop any possible spreading and won't be as noticeable.

DIY Windshield repair kits are available, too.
I've seen them for under $10 at Big Lots! and such, but usually a little more in the parts stores.
Also, many service places do this, but I have no idea what they charge.
Good luck!

Melting Slicks
The first thing you need to do is apply clear tape to stop moisture.
Moisture/dirt will crack the glass and make a repair harder.
I have windscreen insurance included in my vette insurance i highly recommend it

Same thing happened to my 95 about 6 weeks ago,got a new one installed was $550 and that was because I did not use any glue on the weather stripping when I replaced it or it would of been more. Didn't pay a dime, insurance covered it. One place wanted $150 to repair the chip.

All,
Thank you for the replies. I'm a member of AAA, and they work with an auto glass company for AAA members. They can repair my windshield for $89.00, a new windshield is $549.00, so I will let them repair.
They say a repair is mainly to maintain the structure of the glass, all though many repairs are cosmetically sound - back to normal, depending on the extent. based on mine --- I should see a cosmetic difference for the better.
My car is a garage queen, not a daily driver so no problem with moisture/dirt in the area that was hit. My insurance company will cover a window repair as I have full coverage, but there is a $100.00 deductable, so I can not submit for a repair.

Burning Brakes
I would wait for it to crack and get a new windshield...they can fill the chip with epoxy and it will keep it from cracking the windshield...but you will still see the area that is chipped.
