I remembered that one of the magazines used to do some top speed comparison tests. I looked through some and found Motor Trend did these comparisons that include L98 corvettes.
July 1984 155.2 mph
Aug 1987 152.77 mph
Sept 1988 156 mph
June 1989 153 mph

On our modded 87' with auto. Tunning Technices got it up to 165mph (on the dyno)and then backed off since it was running a little lean then got 3 runs like that. Since we were at FunFest had no tools and after we got back to our shop kicked the fuel pressure up 6 more pounds. They also said need to mod the tranny since it was not working withthe engine as well lossing horse power/tourqe. Plan on building a tranny this winter.

My grandpa lives in Hemet.... interesting town.......
The best spot I've discovered is I-10 between Phoenix and LA. HUGE long streches. Mostly 18 wheelers in the right lane that that's about all the traffic you'll get during the week. The air is also pretty fresh and If you get it on a nice 80* day it seems perfect.....
But I have NEVER gone above the speed limit in my car......

Anyways.... it seems the general consensus is about 140-155 with the auto and up to 165 with the standard. But......
Put a 6 speed in where an auto should be and keep the 3.07 gears and... who knows? You'll need some serious torque to get 1st and 2nd out of the way with any time....

I'm in Italy with a Corvette. I'm pretty sure most of the neighbor hood thinks I'm a drug dealer or something. I'm sure half the cops think I'm in the mafia.
But remember, no C4 is the same anymore. Who knows what any of these cars can do. I'm thinking about a forum wide trip to the salt flats. Why not? We just need to make sure we have a LOT of water at the carwash...

Yes, they are out there. I do know few older dudes already receiving social security that did the mail order bride. Two of the seven I know order Filipino ones and they are happy, other got a Russian and she took off on him, the other ones have a Thai, two Chinese and Malaysian. There is a member here that told me about this guy at his work that one of them mail order brides took everything from him; savings, home, honor and manhood. He is so broke that had to work at the age of 75.

Speed for a few reasons never hits me anymore. Very unconfrontable to me. But I know mine will do 72 lol. That is as far as I have ever pushed it. For me and others. I just like to injoy the ride.
