trans question
1987 corvette standard shift.
Just bought this car, trying to get all the bugs out of it. I seems to be weak in first gear and is hesitant to take off, hard to describe, but feels like the emergency brake is on.....
The guy i bought the car from said it had a rebuilt trans and new clutch.
The first time i drove the car, it would jerk rubber in first, now it won't....
What could be the problem, i haven't checked the trans fluid yet, could this be the problem?
Also in passing gear......strange smell comes from car......

thanks i will try that, the cable could be the problem.
also the car seems to jerk back at low speeds worse in higher gear, sometimes a slapping noise
ive checked bolts in the trans, checked the engine mounts as well

Brake pads could also be binding up which could account for the smell as well as the lack of accel.
Do any of the wheels centers feel hotter than others after a drive?

i jacked it up and spun the back wheels seems to spin free, i pushed the brake a couple times too, still spinning free
