recently bought 1992 vette needs a little tlc , working on tune up which isnt any fun, no manual with car, standard coupe, does hard top roof come off

Targa roof unbolts, four torx head bolts. Hardtop (convertable, same two front but several in back. Buy yourself a shop manual (both books). They pay for thenmselves with one job (ebay about $125).

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Using the search function here for tips and what you should tackle first will get you on the right track, and will save you lots of frustation, i.e. do not get the opti distributor wet under any circumstances. (It's under the water pump.)
