Default need help!

87 corvette manual trans

This is what my car is doing. When i shift into first gear and let out on the clutch, the car stalls when the gas is pressed, i can let off the pedal and then its fine.

What is the problem?

It seems like it is not going into gear fully first, then when you let off the gas it takes off.

Almost sounds like the OD unit is stuck on. Try pressing the OD button on/off several times.

Trying to get all the facts:

My understanding is that with the trans in 1st gear, when you begin to let out the clutch, the engine stalls...but as soon as the clutch is pressed back in, engine is fine....is this even close?

Can you put the trans in 2nd gear and take-off or stalls?

Sorry i should have used another word besides stalls. With the trans in first gear, i can let out on the clutch and hit the gas and the car acts like the emergency brake is on. THen i can let off the gas and then it will take off like it should.

If i don't let off the gas, the car will begin to smoke underneath? White smoke and smell like burning rubber, the tires are not spinning though.

There is certainly something leaking and if it's coming out from under the car, it is most likely a oil leak on an exhaust manifold or pipe. Get the car up in the air so you can look for leaks.

For the stalling issue, what is the fuel pressure at idle and at cruise?
