Point and laugh...
A little back story. I have a 91 coupe. The old door panels had a big hole in them from when the PO decided to move the speakers into the door. I replaced them with panels from a 95. Just for information, there is a switch for the hatch on the pass side for the 91, but not the 95. In order to get it out of the way, I just rolled it up a bit and taped it to the door frame.
So, 3 years later, I'm in the parking lot of the NEX (Navy Exchange. It's the grocery store you will find on every Navy base) on my way home. The song "born free" came on the radio, so I turned it up and rolled down the windows. All of the sudden, my hatched popped open!

I stopped, closed it, and it opened up again! The selanoid continued to click over. WTF?!?! Okay, obviously something is wrong with one of the switches. I pried the driver's door open a little bit, but couldn't get to the connector. So, like a smart guy, I took the door apart. Unplugged the switch, no change. Still clicking. Okay, next step. Tear apart the center console. Unplugged the connector, no change. WTF?!?! Then I remembered the pass side. No way. There is no connector to fail! So, I pull that door apart. It turns out that the tape came off. The connector was being crushed by the window as I rolled it down! After a few cuss words and a strange look from my XO, more than a few people got to see me laughing like a madman with both doors and the center console ripped apart.

So, here is the lesson. If there is a connector no longer used, make sure it is tucked away and completely secure.
The connector is now run into the door and is sitting in the pass door compartment with a spare switch connected to it just to be safe.
Okay, now you can point and laugh. Good night!
Italy, Kentucky......electricity is the same.
BTW, I'd never point and laugh ... I'm sure I've done a lot dumber than that.
