Which one to use and how often to add it? I figured Ide ask you C4 crowd since most of you run fuel injection. Just looking for something to help keep the fuel sys up on my other daily driver. Thanks for any input.
yeah thats what I mean..injector cleaner to add periodically. Any others have one they like? Or is the answer still to add none. The chevron station near here closed down but I did used to go there.

Re: fuel injection additive (Jvette73)
In the Gm engines with the Multec injectors, fuel injector cleaner additives can destroy the injector as the fuel is used as a coolant and the additive will melt the protective coating on the coils. This can be measured as a reduction in electrical resistance with an OHM meter, usually gets worse when warm or hot.
Seems most modern injectors are unlikely to clog, somewhat self cleaning. Many are not harmed by injector cleaning additives like Tekron (how do you spell that?). Last article I read was Tekron was best at keeping injectors clean, but Redline was best at cleaning clogged injectors.
After all is said and done, think I agree with everybody above. Additives can cause harm, and may or may not cause good. There is already plenty of detergents in gasoline if you are buying from a major brand. Probably best to leave it alone.
I have used Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner once a year (when my son's
GTA comes out of storage)... never had a problem. I also use STP concentrate
once a year (Spring) on my Intrepid, Lumina and Sable with no problems
whatsoever (all fuel injected). When his '92 vette comes out of storage next
Spring, it too will get a bottle of Techron. :yesnod:
I have never seen any real documentation that states fuel injector cleaner is
harmful to injectors (if any exits, I would appreciate a pointer/copy so I can
maintain my continuous education! :yesnod: )
I have read however, that auto makers don't recommend such products
because of damage to the catalytic converters. Modern premium gasolines
do contain a good amount of detergents (Cheveron actually includes various
levels of Techron in their pump gasolines) which generally make cleaners and
additives unnecessary. :)
Just FYI, GM sells a cleaner additive for the fuel system that will clean up the system at their parts dept. However, it is around $34. a bottle. The upside is they say the injectors will not be harmed. I put a bottle in and within 30 miles set code 32. 1st code in 10 yrs. Just a coincidence I think.
Just my opinion, but I use Z-Max....The additives are appproved for aircraft use, and if you have ever dealt with the FAA, the guidelines are the toughest in the world....I have used it (the fuel additive), and the oil additives and have honestly seen a difference, it's the only one I'd use, no Dura-Lube or Motor-Up crap..........
Best of Luck!
