Drop the trans, and you don't have to pull the hood.
Ididn't even drop the trans-put a stand and board to hold it in level in place, did the swap in 2 days from hood up/engine out to new engine in and running
Well if you ever need to remove the engine with the trans attached its pretty simple.
My trans needed to be removed as well. The engine thats going in has the trans/harness attached as well.
I was reading the horror archives about this and its pretty funny.
I've seen pix of that and it always makes me a little nervous. I just use a bolt in the front of one head and the back of the opposite. Never needed to remove the hood.
