Default Help

I have a 1990 convertible with 84,000 miles on it. When I am in traffic the temp Gage runs high, any suggestions? Thanks

How high? If it stays below 240 you are fine

How high is high? Don't rely on the analogue gauge as it's not linear, use the digital.

Friz is right ..

My 87 L-98 runs around 225 to 230 in stop and go traffic

around 200 running ..

They were designed to run a bit on the hot side. Emissions related.

So unless you are above 240, you are ok.

I have 1990 as well. I too was worried that in traffic the needle swings close to the red (analogue gauge). Apparently the gauge is a. non linear and B. the actual measured temperature is not as alarming as the gauge suggests as its almost pegged to the red zone.

I have an over ride switch where my fans kick in earlier, now in traffic the analogue gauge is a little over half way. I am running the stock thermostat, just that the main fan kicks in earlier.
