Default fuel system power problems

so I am 18 and am trying to start my first project, I have an 84 corvette bought it from a friend, they said they let it sit for a year cause it wouldnt pass smog. over the year the fuel system gave out. we brought it home hooked the fuel pump up to a battery and it pumped like a champ... however we found that the relay was completely fried, so I replaced it. but there is no power getting to the fuel pump, we cant hear or feel it from the cover. but we can get it to pump fuel to the injectors however the injectors are getting no power either. the wiring is all clean, I've been told that the map sensor can prevent this from pumping fuel, etc. I was looking for a next step to take with this before wasting money on a new ECM or MAP sensor

First of all welcome. Try and use the search function in the middle of this page. Most issues have been covered more than once and there is a great deal of knowledge available.

Next, when you can, buy a Factory Service Manual. Make sure you get the red cover version if you find a used copy somewhere. White copy's are preliminary issues and will not have all the info you need.

Those tips being said, check out your oil pressure sending unit and circuit. If it is defective it will shut your fuel down. I dont know if the 84 had VATS but if it does and its worn out the car wont crank. Usually this is indicated by the starter not working but it could be related.

Good luck, I am sure others will try to point you in the right direction.

Fleabay----check their score. If less then 100% read their feed back and see why . I've had people with only 90% that were good because there are people who are never satisfied and give bad feedback. I've bought some items from china with bad feed back that were good. The people that gave the bad feedback complained about slow shipping. IT'S COMING FROM CHINA it won't be here the next day. If your in doubt read why their feedback is low. CODES--get the Factory field sevice manual (FSM) (WE'RE ALL ROOKIES)but most won't admit it. REMEMBER- THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS --JUST COME ON HERE AND ASK YOUR ?? When i got my 87 i was so new i didn't even know how to get the battery out. YES i got busted on for that one. If you can't find a FSM guickly get a Haynes (about $6.oo) until you find the factory one. There OK until you find the right one and a little easier to understand for a beginner.
