Damn! Yes, you guys are right, there is definitely something wrong with the clutch.

Today I started the car since I had the problem. Visual inspection and no leaks found underneath the car. I had the reverse on. Start the car, fine. Reverse gear on, clutch pedal pressed and hand brake on. After 20 seconds with the clutch pedal pressed, the rpms drop and the car starts running backwards WTF? The fact is that it did the same a couple of times some time ago, but I thought it was the hand brake since both times I was on a little slope. Now the ground is flat, so it shouldn't go anywhere. Tried to disengage the reverse, I couldn't. Stopped the engine. Then I could disengage the reverse and put it in neutral. This is weird!

Do you feel a differance in the clutch pedal while all of this is happening?
maybe an internal leak in the Clutch master. This would allow the slave to slowely release, while at the same time the friction disc will be engaging.

just a thought..

It sounds like the clutch hydraulic system is not what it should be. Probably low on fluid or needs to be bled at the slave cylinder. Probably should replace the fluid.

I'm going to venture to say it is not air in the system but it sounds like pressure is leaking past the master or the slave, ie bad internal seals. Try filling the master & bleeding the system, if that does no good then I would replace the master & slave unless someone here knows how to test each one separately.

Finally it was a problem of the master and slave cylinders. I had them replaced and it seems to be switching gears just fine.

The ironic thing is that just after picking it up I drove it, started smelling burnt, and realized that the heater blower came on. Now it stays on all the time even with the key off. I read some threads here about this unrelated problem, but man, this car should give me a break, we just started our relationship.
