Hi everyone. Well, when I bought my 96 coupe, I saw that the previous owner put those ugly small, round mirrors on the left and right side mirrors. What's the best way to get them off. I don't want to crack the big mirror but I also want to get all of the glue off. Thanks, Ed
Fishing line worked carefully, or one of those long (2") razor knives from Harbor Freight. It should be just double back tape. Clean up with a single edge razor blade with laquer thinner or carb cleaner. Protect the car paint from the solvents.
If the fishing line does not work try the smallest gauge weed whacker line you can find and work it back and forth. Then use some goo gone for the residue. GC
Take a heat gun or hair dryer. Carefully heat the mirror and it should come off without too much of a problem. Use the fishline after you heat it if you like. Trying to remove it without heat is a ^%$#&
Dental floss works really well for this kind of thing. It's strong, kinda rough to "saw" through the double-sided tape, and I'm sure you have some in your tool box...
