I have about 70K miles on my '88 convertible, and the intake manifold cracked causing the engine to run like crap. I figured, things happen, no big deal.
I called the original owner, who is a friend, and he told me at about 35K miles he was experiencing a misfire and finally located the problem, a cracked intake manifold.
That just seems odd. I can't imagine they go bad that often, let alone, twice in a single car. Does anybody know of a known issue in C4 Vettes that might explain this? Or is this probably just a coincidence?
I have no idea how one could crack without driving a truck over a vette?
It is aluminum cast so should bend before cracking.
Is it visible ? can you post a picture?

I have had my vette for 15+ years and it still has the original inlet manifold, runners.
somethings out of alignment. It would almost have to be a head because thats the only place the intake touches. The rest has RTV between it..Maybe Decking could be off also causing this , Im not sure... WW
I can't get pictures until spring, once I figured out the problem, I just put the car in storage for the winter.
I have never seen a cracked intake manifold before now either, that is what makes this so weird, to have 2 get cracked. Odd, I was hoping there would be something obvious that I could get fixed/adjusted when I get the new manifold put on. I guess I'll just have to find a mechanic that is familiar with the C4 and make sure he does it right.
