I have one also. They are great cars. Not hard to repair at all. Most everything is tied to the on board computer that diagnoses possible problems. These are excellent road cars. Very comfortable and they do get very good gas mileage. Front brake rotor warpage does seem to be a problem with them though. I think the weight of this heavy car has something to do with it. All in all, you made an excellent choice.
Yeah that C4 OT forum would be a good idea. I for one would like a place to discuss non C4 related things with the guys here rather than in the regular OT which isnt C4 friendly and getting a serious answer at times is difficult.

Quite often rotors are warped by overenthusiastic "technicians" when remounting wheels. Their impact guns are set to "max".
We use them as Patrol cars in my Police Department. They boogie pretty good, and trust me, they CAN take some abuse!
Congrats!
our department was considering them as patrol cars whereas we currently use the Crown Victoria. i'm skeptical of the front wheel drive application for patrol use and abuse, as well as high speed motoring. we are looking into getting the new Ford Interceptor and i think with the awd, it'll be great for our brutal winters.. my heart wants the new 9C1 Caprice though..

Not to get the OPs thread 2 off topic, but I agree with your thinking.... We were big on the Crown Vics, then when they discussed killing them off, we jumped back on the chevy bandwagon (used to have an LT1 caprice...LOVED IT!!!).... Unfortunatly when cost dictates the purchase, cheaper is "better." As for the Impalas, our old 2004s made it well into the 100K+ mileage, and that was with neutral slaoutms.... jumping curbs and center medians, and a bunch of other stuff, I prob should NEVER admit in public. And even though I was finally able to grenade a trans in the 2004, it owed me nothing. These new Impalas, are 10x's the car the older models were, and I hate to say this, more nimble and "quicker" down low then the rwd Vics......
Sorry again to the OP, but to keep it on track, here is our Impala that I was beating the snot out of till I hurt my back last January....
Nice car pkazsr. They are quite robust cars. I had the pleasure to rent for nearly 3 weeks an Impala SS with the 5.3L small block. Went very well with 303hp leather nice stereo and fancy dash and had a nice sound. It had 25k miles on it when I got it and despite being a rental the engine felt tight.

I have had Impalas for years for a company car. We put 150,000 on them and then turn them in. I believe my 2006 ran up the 150K with no maintenance other than oil, two tire changes and a few pairs of wiper blades. These cars are bullet proof other than the normal rattles and small issues. My present 2010 has been in for the passenger door lock actuator, air bag light coming on and normal maintenance. Close to 100K on her already. Good luck, I see a long term relationship in your future!
I have an 08 SS since new and have almost 115k on her. Car has been pretty good to me and it moves along quite well with the small block plus @20 mpgs! To bad they no longer build them. Mine is black on black with the optional chrome rims (1 yr option only) and looks pretty sharp. I have gotten a ton of compliments on this car and it's only a dressed up police car/taxi cab. Would love if they bring the RWD Caprice here. Right now the only thing I like from a performance sedan from GM is the CTS-V. The way I put miles on it probably wouldn't make sense for the cost when I replace my SS....a used one may work though....
I too have an Impala, got it in late May...'09 with 41K on it. It only has the 3.5 litre but I'm loving this car. Rides very smooth, good handling and great gas mileage. Plan on having it for years to come.
