My 03 torch red coupe has some rash in the
front bumper, nothing serious but it annoys me.
Do any of you have advice about how difficult a paint
match would be and what the cost would be for a re paint

Any body shop is going to see Corvette dollar signs and advise a total repaint. But as long as it's a factory color you can get it matched easily enough. Stand your ground, protect your wallet...and maybe you'll save enough for the C4 we know you want.

Check your local bodyshops & check out others who have had their cars recently repainted. Don`t fall for the old "because its a Corvette its got to cost a mint to get it done right" routine. For example, my `87 had the clear lifting in several spots due to age. The shop that had done some of my collision work on prior vehicles repainted my Vette from the halo back for $650 & did an outstanding job. Its all in the prep work.
sorry guys posted on the wrong forum, but thanks for the input,
and yes i just traded my yellow 95 coupe for the red 03
coupe. both great cars but different. The 03 suits my age a little better
<65> but i really enjoyed my c4. years ago had an 80 coupe,
great looks but!!!!!!!!
on my 90 coupe, i had one of those mobil touch-up guys repaint the front bumper. this guy went from dealer to dealer touching up scrapes, and such on used car trade-ins. anyway, i asked him about a corner touch-up, but he said he would do a complete repaint for $150, but i had to bring the car to his base shop. he recommended a complete repaint vs. touch-up considering the light metallic color (steel blue) and the age of the original paint. it took about 8 hours from the time i dropped it off, until i picked the car up. quality was very good with a pretty good color considering he was trying to match 20 year old paint. since my car was a DD, i was more than satisfied - especially with the price. i got a few estimates from regular body shops as high as $600 for a full bumper repaint.
