Is the mirror glass loose, or the whole housing?

It's just the mirror glass I can wiggle it just a little bit, is there a way I can get it off to look behind it ?

Theoretically, you can pull it out with a good tug, but something sounds broken in there...

Depends on what, if anything, is broken inside.

There are three (3) Philips screws that hold the mirror glass retainer in place. These screws will loosen up over time. You have to pop the glass mirror out, tighten the two screws and then pop the glass mirror back in place.

Here is a pretty good how to write up.

Yeah, I was sweating bullets when I had to pull my mirror glass off. I was sure I would break it. But, as you found out, if you have a steady pull and firmly grasp both sides at once, it comes right off. AND, it just pops back in.

Glad that you got it sorted out and are now back in business....
