Default Interior Lights/ Alarm

My alarm has been going off the last few days with no help from me. It turns out that the interior lights have been comming on without opening the door triggering the alarm. Could it be that the door ajar switch is going bad causing the lights to come on...I would guess that it would be the drivers door since it sees the most action...any ideas

I am having this same problem also with my '92. I would love to know what it is.

I would certainly start by checking and "fixing up" both door switches. Work them back and forth, grease them, etc.

Grease the door ajar switches. They get stuck and cause this problem.

New switches can be bad as well. I had to grease a new one to get it to work correctly.

I put grease on my original door ajar switches which kept them working for another 6 months or so. Eventually I had to replace the door switches.

Thanks for the link.....Does anyone have a source for the backing plate that goes on the inside of the door...I have one hole that is stripped out so I need a new backing plate..

Sounds like you need to pry out the pins on the door switch plungers to make them slightly longer so that the switch(es) close. See my reply in this thread:

GREAT TIP....Worked like a charm on the drivers side...But how my luck and 17 year old plastic is. The passenger side plunger broke off so I will
get another switch for that side....But my lights no longer flicker when I shut the door and the alarm is now quiet...
