Default wheel size

newbie question...........can you mount a 315/35/17 on a 9.5 inch rim?
thank you for any info....it would be going on a 87 vette & it would have 1 inch adapter thank you.........and merry x-mas to all !!!!

Not sure if it would physically fit or not.
But it is sure not recommended.
Since the actual tread width of that tire would be wider than the rim, it would look really funny too.
Even if it would fit, it wouldn't be safe.

The factory cars that came with that size tire, all had 11" wide rims.

Tire is almost a foot wide on a 91/2inch rim?

the last fun car i had was a 68 charger rt with a 440.........those days you crammed the biggest under and ran the crap otta it......vette.......way new to me......sorry to sound ingnorant

You really need to use a 10.5 or 11 inch rim for proper fit of a 315 / 35 /17
Go to Tire Rack and look at the manfacture of the tire and what size rim they say to mount it on. Use of an adapter has nothing to do with tire fitment on the rim

Don't ask = try it and have disaster. Always ask....and like was said above, even if it does fit (which I doubt) it wouldn't be a good idea.
