Last year I noticed my windshield washer fluid froze solid. We never got below 0 degrees F. So I figured I would replace it with new fluid. Worried about cracking the resevoir, I bought an Anti-Freeze tester and tested the old and new fluid. Both did not register at all. It was supposed to read -20 degrees F but it did not register even 32 degrees F. My question....Does an Anti Freeze tester work for windshield washer fluid ?
i've never heard of that stuff freezing, but i have heard of those quick lube outfits using blue colored water when topping off the reservoir. i wouldn't think an antifreeze tester would work on windshield washer fluid.
Last winter my son bought a gallon of antifreeze from the dollar store and put it on a shelf in the Garage. My garage is a uninsulated pole barn he went out to get it to hat to his car and it was frozen solid !! what can you say !

Windshield washer fluid comes in two types, the Summer mix and the "all weather mix". I always use the "All weather mix" it's good down to, I believe -20*. Don't use anti-freeze in your washer, it will leave a mess on your windshield.
