Hey guys quick question... I blew my 86s engine and have been looking around for a replacement... I found an 82 350 corvette engine equipped with tbi now obviously I wouldn't use the tbi but will the block be the same? And can I use tbi heads with my tune port? (<---prolly a dumb question)
Everything should fit, although the flywheel and oil pan are probably different. I think they went with a one piece rear main in 86. Steel heads or aluminum heads should work with your manifolds, although the aluminum head valve cover is the new center bolt(in case you have the 86.5 aluminum heads).
What part of your engine did you wreck? You can mix and match plenty of parts. Right now I'm using an 84ish junkyard block with replacement pistons, an aftermarket cam, with my stock 88 heads and intake setup bolted on top. Just use whatever oil pan fits the replacement block, and a flexplate that fits it with the right number of teeth. Just dont get too far from stock specs or your computer might need to be retuned.
Thank you all for your replys! I would love to have an ls haha can't afford that
My car still runs (sorta) it has a horrible sound coming from the mid to bottom part of the engine I figured it was a rod nock... That's what happens when you rear mount turbo a 197k engine Little project my buddy and I did... Knew it would go just thought I'd get some more time with her
Oh and mines 86 Early so cast heads... Once again thank you for your info!! Looks like I'll be picking up the engine hopefully this week then!
