I was looking at the C5 For Sale section and came upon a beautiful 2000 FRC with 39K miles. Looking at all the pics the one that really caught my eye was the window sticker.
$40,354 for a 2000, and the window sticker on my '94 is $39,469. A $900 dollar difference in 6 years? Granted the 2000 has manual air and no Bose but still, doesn't that seem a little out of sorts? Were the FRC's a cost-cutting measure by GM? I just thought I'd post this because it still seems strange to me such a small difference in sticker price over a 6 year period.
I believe the fixed roof model was meant to be a "budget" vette or, "entry-level" if you prefer. I think it was somewhat decontented to differentiate it from the normal targa model. It didn't go over too well, IIRC, and eventually morphed into the Z06 with a stronger engine, etc.

The FRC was refereed to at the time as the "BILLY BOB" Corvette...limited choice of the exterior colors pl;us only a black interior was offered...The option list was also very limited... As noted the car flopped ...
The Base hard top (the FRC) listed at $38,900.00 so this car had all of a 400 or so bucks worth of "extras"
Gm added a more powerful engine in 2001 stuck a Z06 emblem on the front fenders and opened up the option list and ...hell we all know what happened
To be honest I'd LOVE to find a RFC ..I liked them much more then the standard Targa coupes ...but i'm a convertible man ..
