I wasn't aware of the rule about not reviving old posts ,when I posted my questions about removing the door panel on my 92 . so I apologize for that..but want to thank those who chimed in with advice..I did get it off...but now have another problem..
The reason I had to take it off is that I was trying to R & R the door ajar switch..the one one that turns the courtesy lights on and off when you open and close the door, and did not realize that there was a plate or something on the inside of the door that the screws actually screw into ..so when I unscrewed the old one..that plate fell inside the door.. ..The wire also disconectd inside the door, but I can get at that easily enough now with the door panel off. I was hoping I could retrieve the screw piece too by removing the panel, but there is no room to get my hand down to the bottom with all the other stuff in there. Does anyone know where I could get that piece or a workaround to reinstall the new switch?
Thanks
I havent had the door panel off on my 96 so I dont know how much stuff is in there but I would try one a telescoping magnet and push it along the bottom to try and pick up the plate. It will want to jump to every piece of steel in there but eventually you should be able to fish it out.
If the piece is steel, you might get one of those magnets on a long extendable handle down in there - most auto parts places sell them, probably HD also. Every garage and shop should have at least one, they come in very handy for fallen tools, errant bolts, etc!
