The FIRST intake would work real well with the cubes and the smallish cam. Theres other choices also but thats a start.
Old wives tail. IF it generates that much heat, would you want that submerged in your fuel tank any more than a lit match? When cools the pump is the fuel running thru it from what I can see. Further to that, when you run out of fuel, your pump stops because the engine stops. IF that were true, you should buy stocks in Walbro since I never fuel up till I get to empty and more. I changed my Vette pump because I wanted a better pump. I changed my Firebird pump because the tank was getting rusty and wanted to do it with the tank out. My Merkur had 2 pumps and the outer one failed.

I went with the HSR because that is what the tuner preferred with his cam.
