Yesterday I was out on the highway in the boonies, and ran my 92 automatic all stock c4 to see what it's top end might be. At 125 mph it was pulling strong at about 4400 rpm, and suddenly it acted like it had been put into neutral. The rpm spiked until I was able to get my foot off the gas, and at that point it was fine. I checked everything, but could find no reason for the problem. Later in the day I tried again, and at 120 mph it did it again - just like it had been dropped into neutral. The only explaination that I can think of is perhaps the transmission has some sort of valve that is stopping it from going higher. Anyone have a solution???? Clayton
Careful out there brother, if you discovered that problem
and that high a speed, and then went out and did it again? on a public road..?
you are really risking lives, yours and others. if the tranny bound, would not unlock, and your engine bound, at that speed, it would have rolled the whole fn car around the crankshaft..like a top.
the track my brother..the track, if you have the correct safety gear,
and are cleared to run. never those speeds on a public road..too dangerous, in a very quick, very light car. Careful man, we want to swap vette stories at meet and greets, not sad tales. Best, Derek

Besides the CF frowning on high-speed runs on public roads, trying to diagnose this sort of a problem is not the way to do it.
Also, is the trans original to the car? Sounds like the trans is not wanting to go into OD at WOT. Either a bad servo or somebody swapped in an F-body trans.
Most of us on the forum have common sense enough to not risk our lives, or innocent bystanders, on street racing.
Take it to a track where you can have fun safely.
I was not on a road with other people, so calm down. I don't live in California or such, and there is no track within any reasonable driving distance. I have locked up engines and transmissions at high speed and they don't flip your car into a frenzy.
If you have some serious technical advice - great. If your advice is otherwise, keep it to yourself. If you just want to whine, park your Vette and buy a Prius.
