Hey guys I m puttin a motor in a 1984 C4 for a buddy he bought the car with no motor or tranny.... So what i need to know is there any thing i need to look out for ? Any problems you guys have had in the past doing this same job ? I own a Vette but have never had to pull motor ...
thanks for any advice
I believe the computer in the 84 is programed around the crossfire injection system. So if you are going to run a L98 or LT1 you will most likely have to up grade the computer to a later model ECM. A company called Painless Wiring has the adapter harnesses. Good luck p.s. don't forget to upgrade the fuel pump too.
I m not so worried about the act of installing the motor .....its more like the front of the motor .....and such, its going to be carbed.......so dont need computer ......i got a manual i m hoping everything comes out ok..
Watch for hood clearance with an air cleaner. you need to run electric fans. A small block is the same in 84 as most of the smallblocks so should be real straightforward. Are you using the accessories off a X-fire engine? Pwr steering , alt. etc.? :smash:
