touching up paint

ok so i have a final answer.
I did my tax return tonight, and I'm getting mucho $$ back.
I am going to do the full paint, same color. (hopefully next week!)
I looked at the car closely today, and there are some dings and scratches here and there, and being the OCD perfectionist, that i am,the wife pointed out that i probably wouldn't be happy just doing the back..
I only paid $3000 for this car 3 years ago, it was pretty beat up. little by little i fixed everything up, and aside from the paint, the car is now in mint condition. I think I'm into it for less than $5K.
the wife is actually really supportive, she knows the vette is my addiction, and i spend every free minute tinkering and putzing around on it trying to make it perfect.
I have no plans on selling this car anytime in the future, so regardless of the actual value, its priceless to me.
I did take pics when i first bought it, so I will post before and after pics when I'm done.

If he'll do a top quality job for $2,500, it sounds like a bargain. Here in the LA area, a good job would cost 4-5 thousand. Go for it. It really doesn't matter what you paid for the car; but rather whether you will have the car that you want after the repaint.
I am among those who feel that the early C4 convertible is the best looking car to ever come out of Detroit, bar none. It's a stunning looking car; even more so with new paint.

Just a thought....I would say you lucked out on the area that needs to be repainted & clear coated. It on the top rather than the side where if it were a bad paint match , it would be much more noticeable. We have similar Vettes...my 87 too has very very nice paint, an awesome wet glossy clear coat but she has a few "age spots"
