Hi all. I am new to the forum & also a fairly new corvette owner. I bought my 84 from a friend at church about a year ago. So far, I have done all of the repair work myself. Then the tranny went out. I bought a used one from a corvette place & my neighbor & I removed the old one & put in the new one. It will not shift out of 1st when in OD, but I can shift if manually at around 3-4Gs. I have been doing a ton of research & have come to a couple conclusions: its an electrical problem caused by a bad fuse (which I cannot find) or possibly the filter. Another friend who worked on trannys (especially the 700R) says because it is slamming into drive & since I can manually shift it, its an electrical problem. In my repair manual, it shows a GA. Trans fuse (20amp) in the fuse box. There is no such thing in my fuse box. Is this an in-line fuse? I can't for the life of me find it. I really don't want to have it towed somewhere, but I am almost at that point. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No; it is a mechanical problem
Only thing controlled by elec on your version is the convertor lockup
I have replaced the TV cable (because the old one was cracked & worn out), adjusted it & still nothing. As far as the governor gear, I am almost positive we checked that before we put it on because I had to take the tail housing off of my old one & put it on the new one, so I believe it is ok. The used tranny came off of an '87 & the owner of the shop said that it was out of a working car that had other problems, so thats why they are parting it out. He gave me a 30 day warranty on it. I don't believe it was rebuilt, or at least he didn't tell me it was.
Yes, its still under warranty. The only problem is that the corvette place is over an hour away. I'm having it towed today to a tranny shop about 10 miles down the road. They said they will diagnose it for free. Hopefully it won't cost me an arm & a leg. I will let you all know what the diagnosis is. Thanks for all your replies!!
