How's your fuel pressure when trying to start? I had a similar problem with my 89 and it ended up being a fuel pressure regulator. You can attach a fuel pressure gauge at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail to get a reading. Unfortunately I don't remember what the reading should be.
I took a reading in all the injectors on my 89 vette when hot and they reads as follow, all thereadings are in ohms. #1=19.0, #2=14.0,#3=19.6, #4=19.6, #5=13.0, #6=20.0, #7=14, #8=20.0: someone please tell Me if this is the cause of My starting problem, also took a reading whiht the Ps gauge and the reading was 48 PSI, after several minutes the pressure drop to 30 psi. need help. Thanks
I would put a scanner on it and see what the temp sensor is reading in relation to app wngine temp. do this in the morning after the car has sat all night.
One possible cause is the fuel pump relay. If it goes bad it takes several seconds of cranking for the oil pressure to build and then oil pressure override circuit activates the fuel pump.
If you put your foot to the floor it will go into flood clear mode. If your injectors are leaking this should allow it to start faster, and you'll know the injectors are bad.
