cluster bulbs (again)
most all saying do not use the 882 bulbs on the 89 cause of melting boards..
so ok stanley 7073's been on putor all trying to find them. no joy.
my 1989 manual says use #161. available right down street.
the sylvania ones i looked at did not say halogen. a good thing.
but the also did not say xenon.
so can i use what manual said, or will they be too hot also and melt my boards?
been 4 days now since dash out and getting nowhere with bulbs.
2 burned out but have cluster apart want to change everything. checked all connections and solder joints. all looks well.
anouther question about high beam and turn sig bulbs.
book says use #74/ and some sites also say that. being they not on full time will the non halogen but prob non xenon work? again sylvina 74.
any help? thanks

maybe not xenon filled, no doccumentation or packaging.
i have the sockets coming from grangers. auto zone wants 4 bucks each.
am getting 10 for 6$ at grangers. will have spares to share.
looking into pegases site. they say xenon right in ad. also lots of 10 but pretty cheap.
if i go this route will have whole extra set to save or share with some one here needing.
been doing a lot of research on this. problemis the 20 day wait cause out of stock.
194's to hot as well as the 1988 882's
sylvania stopped making the oem 7073 years ago. called sylviana direct on this.
still researching the owners manual that says use 161. cant find if xenon or not. they available local for cheap at auto zone.
just being very careful not to fry the board. 3 of the socketts were green with burn marks.
a 4th was black iin color. thinking someone changed it out over the years. hell, why did they not change all of them?
I have a 1986 vette.
Im a Electronic Tech by trade.
(Im not suggesting you do this) but when my bulbs when out I looked up the factory replacements and the wattage.
While I was @ Menerds on day in the light section i saw some bulbs that where 5-10 watts that looked just like the factory ones made for lamps.
They had the straight pins so i didnt need to change the sockets.
They are $4 each and ive been running them for 3 years now.
Has not melted my circuit board at all.
I had a bad ground on the dash cluster when I got the car but I replaced the ground trace with a piece of thick wire and a Nail straight thru the hole in the cluster no more ground issues.
