Serpentine Belt

Serpentine Belt
Replaced the belt last Spring & now the new one is flaking apart right in the middle of the belt on the smooth side! Could this be just a bad belt or could it be a bad tension pulley or Idler or whatever, we're only talking about 3000 mi on the new belt. Any ideas? :confused:

Theres two belts, the right one and the wrong one.
The right one has ribs on both sides, the wrong one has a smooth side.
GM recomends to use only the 2 sided belt.

2 belts?? Both of mine are smooth on one side. :confused: It sounds like you might have a bad belt.

Different years, different belts. The 92 uses one grooved on both sides. They switched over at some point after that to a single sided belt.
